A Study on University Students` Recognition of Psychodrama

Abstract
This thesis is to inquire into university students` recognition of psychodrama. And then, this thesis provides basic information necessary to promote the recognition of psychodrama from broader groups of university students, thereby serving as a grope for the further direction of psychodrama. The subject of the study was 343 students of 4 universities located in Dague and Kyungsan. The students were asked to answer to the questionnaire survey, which was composed of 1) the recognition of psychodrama, 2) the expected effect of psychodrama, 3) the problem of psychodrama. The data was analyzed by SPSS (ver.12.0 for Windows). Internal consistency reliability test (Cronbach`s ¥á) was carried out for the composition of scale. This thesis evaluates the frequency, the percentage, the mean, the standard deviation to extrapolate the rate of university students` recognition of psychodrama. The results are as follows. First, in view of the recognition degree of psychodrama, top on the list of responses was "To Know Little". In most case, they came to know psychodrama through newspapers or TV. While the number of people interested in psychodrama was small, the rate of perceiving psychodrama as one of clinical or counseling fields was high. There were a lot of students, who have not participated in psychodrama program. However, they were interested in taking part in a psychodrama program afterwards. The respondents showed high propensity to think that a participant of psychodrama was a person with psychological and/or emotional problems. The rate of the respondents was highest, who thought that the person in charge of psychodrama program should be professional. The rate of the respondents was high, who thought that the subject of psychodramatist. Second, in general most of the respondents anticipated the growth of self-efficacy and self-confidence in a psychodrama program. In view of the effectiveness of psychodrama, most of the respondents anticipated the understanding and acceptance of themselves. Third, in the problems of psychodrama, most of the respondents believed that there were not enough opportunity to learn more about and participate in a psychodrama.
